Integrated Home with Fun Sports-Themed Room
This Electronic House 2011Home of the Year winning
project started as a show-home for the 2010 Parade of
Homes. Bringing home all of the awards for its price
category was resounding praise indeed. The builder
(G.J. Gardner Homes Northgate), the designer, and
Colorado Media Systems collaborated on the project to
make it a success.

The house boasts a total of 15 televisions, 9 amplified
audio zones, a Control4 control system, & a DSC
security system.

The gem in the crown is the ESPN-themed sports bar.
There are four 46” Samsung LCD TVs that flank a 55”
Samsung LCD on a motorized mount. Five Episode in-
wall speakers with an Episode subwoofer fill the room
with sound. The speakers are fed by a Denon AVR-2310CI receiver. The Control4
Remote system makes it easy to control any of the televisions or switch the feed
from one TV to another with the audio following.

In the rec room there is another 46” Samsung LCD with an additional pair of
episode speakers. A Control4 LCD keypad makes it easy to select music or the
owners can use the on-screen display if they prefer.
Other televisions are located in the office, master bedroom, master bathroom, laundry room, and the kid’s room, which
sports a pair of TV’s with DVD players and individual wireless headphones to allow the grandchildren to relax in the room
at the same time. The deck features amazing views of Colorado Springs and yet another Samsung LCD in a cabinet over
the outdoor fireplace.

All of the televisions in the project are fed from a Video-Storm AV matrix that is controlled by the
Control4 system. All of the digital audio switching is done by the Video-Storm piece, while a
Control4 Audio Matrix does the analog audio switching. All of the televisions use a Binary Balun
to receive audio and video signals across the cat5 cable in the house.

The upstairs climate control system is controlled by a Control4 thermostat to make it easy to
adjust the temperature through any of the TV on-screen displays.

Audio and video sources include the Control4 controllers (including Rhapsody), the BluRay
player in the sports bar, an i-Port in-wall docking station, five cable boxes, and the two kid’s
DVD players. Any of these sources can be selected on any of the televisions in the house.
Each of the televisions is controlled by a Control4 remote (either an SR150 or SR250).
