Media Room Addition and Amazing Outdoor Space
addition, they had specific areas that they wanted to have audio-visual
systems installed. These included the family room, an exercise room and
the deck area. They also wanted to simplify their lighting system and
eliminate some of the wall clutter.

Colorado Media Systems was involved early in the process and worked
closely with Kenton Pass and Company through on-site visits, e-mail
consultations and phone conversations. Every detail was thought through
from the size of the opening for the TV above the fireplace to where to
place each of the Control4 dimmers. Planning and communication made
the entire process go smoothly.

Control4 was the obvious choice for the overall control system. The
lighting and control components allowed us to make to systems easy to
use and flexible.

The family room sports a 3D LED television from Samsung. While having
a 3D television was not initially a priority, the introduction of the
technology during the planning for this system made it a fun addition.
All of the in-ceiling and in-wall speakers in this 5.1 system were provided
by Monitor Audio and were painted to match the walls and ceiling they are
placed in.

A Denon AVR-2311CI receiver was selected for it’s ability to pass a 3D
signal, and for it’s wide range of input types. The Denon receiver is also
used to power the speakers on the deck via the zone 2 functions. All of
the electronics in the family room are controlled by a Control4 HC300 and
a Control4 SR250 remote.
The deck is divided into two areas: a covered area for dining and barbequing, and an open area for the spa and fire pit.
In the covered area, there is a pair of Sonance Symphony Extreme XTR speakers and in the open area there is a pair
of Monitor Audio Climate 10 speakers.

Downstairs in the addition, there is an exercise room that sports a Samsung LCD for when the homeowners are working
out.

The homeowners had an existing system in their living room and this was enhanced with the addition of a Control4
HC200 and SR250 remote. There was an existing Salamander Designs AV furniture piece that led to the use of a new
Chameleon piece from Salamander Designs in the new addition.

The lighting control system was carefully thought out to allow maximum control while minimizing the wall clutter that can
be a result of many loads. The solution was to place most of the 33 dimmers in the project into the top of closets and
have Control4 six-button keypads placed around the home to activate individual lighting loads as and lighting scenes.
There is also a Samsung
BluRay player in the
system to allow for the
playback of the 3D content.
